Let me tell you a story...
In 2011, a young engineer started working at a large company. One day, he was given a task completely unrelated to his experience. The task was to organize a large office space with items that, at first glance, seemed impossible to fit into that space. As he liked to act fast, he immediately got to work. He rearranged a few tables and cabinets, but quickly realized that it couldn't be done this way, as the items were big and heavy, and it took a lot of time to check if any idea could work. In the end, there was always a few centimeters missing to make the plan succeed.
He wanted to give up, but his colleague told him about a quick and easy way to create 3D
models.
At
first, being a complete novice in this area, he wanted to refuse, but after a while, he
thought,
"I'll give it a chance."
The training lasted only 30 minutes. What was his surprise when, after a few moments, he was
able to
create his first models and the next day, present the only correct solution to his
boss.
I'll surprise you now... that engineer was me! Since then, I fell in love with
SketchUp
and the
possibilities it offers. I quickly started using extensions.
The rest, you can guess. Combining my passion for creating with the needs of my professional
work,
the next step was obvious. I started creating my own plugins.
